October 5, day 5

It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be ground down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.” ― Saint John Paul II

After Mass at the Church of the Resurrection we traveled to Bastogne. The Battle of Bastogne was a battle between American and German forces at the town of Bastogne in Belgium from the 20th to the 27th December 1944. It was part of a bigger operation, the Battle of the Bulge. The siege ended when the American forces holding the town were relieved by George Patton’s 3rd Army. We visited the Bastogne War Museum and had a panoramic tour of the city and continued to Luxembourg.
